Tarte Tartelette 2 In Bloom Palette Review + Swatches

I was happy to see that my cousin got me this palette for my birthday over a month ago. I mean, look at it. Who knew a make-up palette could be that beautiful? I was head over heels in love with my Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette (the first original one), so I knew I had to get this one too. Introducing the stunning Tarte Tartelette 2 In Bloom Palette.

Compared to the original Tartelette and this one, the Tartelette In Bloom offers both matte and luster eyeshadows, whereas the Tartelette original only had mattes.

A lot of the shades in the Tartelette 2 In Bloom palette are very warm toned as well. 

Comparing with the previous Tartelette, the 2 offers a great variety of browns, bronzes, and gorgeous transition shades. 

Charmer appears to be a very white shade, but in the palette it's more of an off white/eggshell white. The shadows in this palette aren't as chalky as other Tarte shadows I've tried. The pigmentation is phenomenal.

Jetsetter is a matte, silky, gorgeous light beige.

Rocker is a medium taupe with a bit of shimmer. The shimmer/luster shades definitely performed better than the mattes.

Smokeshow is a dark, dusty black/brown. 

Flowerchild is a very pigmented warm peach shade.

Smart Pants is a very warm peachy/orange shade, that would work amazing as a transition colour.

Firecracker is a very shimmery bronze with warm brown undertones, and a hint of gold.

Activist came off very powdery, and a wee bit patchy. It can be described as a dark espresso shade.

Funny Girl was a very sheer white gold shade that was pigmented, but didn't have much coverage on its own.

Sweetheart is a pretty, matte peachy/pink.

Rebel is a very deep red/brown/terracotta shade.

Leader is a matte red/brown that came off a bit powdery, and if blended too much, became patchy.

Overall, the palette itself as a whole is amazing. The colours all work so well together, providing many looks. I love the shades in this palette, and the fact that it has both mattes and lusters is great as well.

I'm a huge fan of Tarte products, so there's no surprise that I enjoy this palette. It is for sure my go-to eyeshadow palette at the moment. This will be my holy grail for the rest of the Spring and Summer months!

The Balm Meet Matte Eyeshadow Palette Review + Swatches

I would say that most of my eyeshadow collection contains matte eyeshadows. I just find them so easy to work with, and so simple compared to shimmers and satins. The Balm Meet Matte was one eyeshadow palette I needed in my collection. I purchased this palette a while ago when theBalm was on Hautelook, so I got it around 50% off the regular price. Quite the steal considering theBalm is already pretty decently priced. 

theBalm Meet Matte Nude Eyeshadow palette contains 9 gorgeous matte eyeshadows, named after 9 different "Matt's".

The eyeshadow pans are pretty big and the colour variety is quite nice. 

If you saw my theBalm Nude Tude Eyeshadow review, you're probably thinking "hey, this palette must not be good either!". Well, that's where you're wrong. This palette is the bomb. The colours and pigmentation has hit it out of the ball park. Look how matte and how beautifully dark the shades are! My favourite has got to be Matt Wood and Matt Johnson.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette Review + Swatches

Lately I've been going on a "use all your make-up products" binge, and I've been pulling out old palettes I've had (prior to my blogging days) and decided to use and review them. Today's review will be on the ever so gorgeous Urban Decay Naked 3.

This is actually one of the only Naked palettes I own, and it has definitely pushed me into wanting to buy the Naked Vault. Who really has THAT much money to splurge on make-up though? A girl can dream. I was drawn to purchase this palette when it was released because of the rose gold eyeshadows and the pretty metal packaging. 

How could you not fall in love with these shades? 

Can you believe I had this palette for a year? It looks barely touched haha. That's what I get for constantly buying more and more make-up I don't need. 

The eyeshadows are to die for. The colours are rich and pigmented, and none of them are chalky. Urban Decay has always been good with their eyeshadows, so it's no surprise this palette was a success. 

Out of all the eyeshadow palettes I own, the Naked 3 would probably be my number one. I love the shades in this palette. I love that I could create a simple neutral look for the day, and by night, I could add some depth to my eyes with the darker shades, and create a sultry night time look. Just look at the deep richness of the shades. Absolutely stunning.

H&M Beauty Eye Colour Palette Review in Smoky Nudes

With H&M's new Beauty Department, we could only really hope for the best with their huge line of products. It's insane that they released over 700 beauty products for their department all at once. The question is, are the products worth spending your bucks on? Well, that's why I'll be reviewing a range of products from the Beauty Department by H&M. 

Today I will be reviewing one of the many eyeshadow palettes H&M released. I got the chance to try out the Smoky Nudes palette. 

Coincidentally, nude palettes are all the rage for me, and literally the only types of palettes I enjoy wearing. I do have the occasional crazy or vibrant eyeshadow palette, but those are rarely touched. For $12.99, you get 9 eyeshadows. Mostly matte, with a glittery one and maybe one or two satin/shimmery ones. 

For the price you're paying, the colour payoff on this palette is pretty good. The only shade that was disappointing was the glitter one, which wasn't a surprise. A lot of fall out on that one, but the other shades were wonderful. Very pigmented for such a low price. My favourite has got to be the mauve/pale purple shade (third from the left) and the chocolate shade beside it.

Overall, you're getting pretty good quality for a low price. I could see myself easily picking up an eyeshadow palette while shopping for cute outfits from H&M. They definitely are getting the big bucks if they keep up the great work in their new beauty department. Now we can buy brand new outfit, along with make-up products to complete the look.

Motives Boxed Beauty Palette Review + Swatches

I'm going to get ahead of the game and start with awesome Christmas gift ideas for this years holiday season. Today I will be reviewing the Motives Cosmetics Boxed Beauty Palette.

This palette is super sleek and affordable ($37) for travellers who want to pack light, or for young girls, or anyone starting to get into make-up. It makes a great starter palette and Christmas gift. 

It comes with a great size mirror, 6 eyeshadows and 2 blushes. The shades are quite versatile to create day and night looks. 

You also get a little blush brush and sponge tip applicator for the eyeshadows. I would probably recommend getting the person you'd be buying this real brushes though, since these aren't the best brushes to use.

Now compared to the disappointing The Present by Scott Barnes for Motives Cosmetics Palette, the pigmentation for these products are WAY better. It's not too powdery that it would flake off, and the colour payoff is outstanding. A little definitely goes a long way since the colour shows up so well. The left blush would also make a great highlighter. 

The eyeshadows: 

These colours are absolutely gorgeous. Now if you're more of a matte eyeshadow person, then this palette is not for you. All the colours have a gorgeous shimmer to them. The only colour that kind of sucked was the white one, which didn't show up very well. My favourite would probably be the first shade on the left, which looks like a beautiful champagne colour, and the deep chocolate brown. 

Recommended for fall and winter, these shades are the perfect gift for the make-up lover, or make-up newbie in your life.

The Present By Scott Barnes for Motives Review

When I first saw this product on my mom's vanity, I thought to myself "I must have it!" It's such a brilliant way to have an everything palette compacted into one tiny little present. Was it well executed though? Let us break it down. 

Today I will be doing a review on the The Present By Scott Barnes for Motives. Now this is no where near a new and innovative product. It's been out for a few years now, and being a make-up hoarder, I just found it in my collection haha. Have I ever used it? Nope, just swatched a few of the colours. 

What "the present" really is, is a compact, stacked, all-in-one make-up palette with a variety of shades and colours, to create many looks. 

The one that I will be reviewing is called "Smokey Nights".

Here it is in all its glory. It's very small that you can throw in your purse, but not flat enough to have in your make-up bag. 

It even comes with a mirror on the lid! They really came up with everything didn't they.

The eyeshadow quad:

To be honest, these eyeshadows were pretty disappointing. It took a lot of vigorous rubbing (not in that way you perv) to get a good swatch out of each of them, and the only one that really showed up the best was the copper/orange shade.

Now I don't see why they would give you 4 different concealer shades, because in reality, only one of them is going to work for your skin. I guess this was the only way they could make this palette work for all skin types, but it's really just a waste of concealers that won't be used. It would be understandable if you were a make-up artist or something and this was in your kit, then all the colours would come in handy. The concealers were really nice though, very smooth and melted to the touch. Super creamy and didn't crease much besides the lightest peach shade.

Again with the powdery-ness and lack of pigmentation. I really think it has something to do with the design on the powders. It was difficult to get a nice clean swatch without having to go over it with my finger a few times to get good colour pay off.

For a translucent powder, it still came off very white, which led me to think that this would leave a terrible white cast on my skin.

I was actually surprised to find out that these were lip glosses and not lip creams/lipsticks. They colour for these were very nice, but they were a bit sticky/tacky, but to be expected. 

Overall, Motives had a great idea for a product, but it wasn't that well executed. I felt the powders (eyeshadows, blushes, powder) could have been made better, or maybe it was the design on the powder that threw it all off. Otherwise, it's actually a great idea, and would be a wonderful "present" for those looking to start trying make-up, or who want an all-in-one palette.
