Thermalabs Self Tanning Towelettes Review

Summer is here, and we all know it's tanning season. I'm not a huge fan of getting spray tans or tanning outside (because I hate the heat), so self tans are my solution to my pasty white legs. The only self tanner I've ever tried in the past was the Jergens tanning lotion, and that has worked okay for me.

Thermalabs has created self-tanning towelettes, which claim to be super easy to use and is streak free. The idea itself sounds brilliant, but the execution? We'll have to see about that.

I'm the type of person who sometimes likes to half-ass things (as my boyfriend says), and sometimes things just turn out bad because I don't fully commit to following instructions.

Here are my legs:

Pasty white, and don't match my arms or face. This is the dilemma I always face every summer. Do I wear shorts and blind people with my white legs? I always do, because it's too hot to not wear shorts.

Before you do anything, make sure you exfoliate thoroughly where you want to apply the self tanner, to make sure you get an even coverage.

You're suppose to take the wipe and apply with broad strokes.
Within 4 hours you should have a noticeable tan.

Each wipe is individually wrapped. What I did was use one wipe per leg, rubbing in broad strokes, hoping I got every part of my leg. I used it mostly on my thighs because that part of my leg is the biggest, so of course I thought it would need more. I was wrong.

Trial one: FAIL.

It looked way worse in person, trust me. Parts of my thighs just had a really dark spot and the rest was just white. I looked like a zebra!

 Trial Two: Success-ish.
I followed the instructions, and made sure to exfoliate my legs thoroughly before applying the product again. This time I focused on applying the product in very broad strokes on my shins (the colour didn't take the first time), and tried a light hand at my thighs since there was so much colour there already. I lightly rubbed on my knees and ankles (knees are still too white now, ankles are hella dark, but luckily I wear converses with socks, so it covers it). If you look closely, you can see that my knees, feet and parts of my thighs are fairly white still.

Oh, and each leg, I used a total of 3 wipes within a week. The fail picture was taken a week before this picture. I then applied one wipe to each leg again, waited about 2 hours, and applied another wipe to each leg.

Lets be honest now:
Pros:
- Easy to use.
- Actually has a nice tan colour to it.
- Super fast way to get a tan.
- Safer than a tanning bed or tanning outside.

Cons:
- Hard to tell if you missed a spot or not.
- Once the wipe gets dry, it becomes hard to rub around your legs.

Look at the difference though. My legs look like I went on a little vacation over the weekend or something. The product itself has a lot of potential. Is it for me though? I don't think so, until I at least figure out how to apply it properly that I don't have zebra legs. My shins are nicely tanned evenly, but my thighs are a different story. Some parts didn't take the colour so they're still white, so I don't think I'll be wearing short shorts for the next week or so.

I received this product at a high discount in exchange for
my honest opinion. All opinions are my own.
