As of lately, I've been on quite the health kick, and it's been consuming a lot of my free time. I hate to neglect my blog, but I've been wanting to work on myself for many years now. I got the opportunity to try out a healthy snack, which to my surprise was a new chip alternative for me. If you know me, I am addicted to salty foods, and chips are my guilty pleasure. I used to be capable of finishing a whole bag of chips in one sitting. Not something to be proud of.
I got the chance to try Prana Organic Coconut Chips which come in four flavours named after popular dances around the world. I was a bit hesitant with trying coconut chips, because the idea of coconut and salty flavours was quite new to me. I've only ever tried coconut when it was fresh, or with chocolate.
Prana Coconut Chips - Charleston (BBQ)
To my surprise, this was one of the best out of the four flavours. It wasn't an overly strong BBQ taste, but it went quite well with the dry coconut. Not spicy, and not too sweet. I usually am not that big of a fan of BBQ flavours, but this one was quite nice.
Prana Coconut Chips - Classic (Original)
Not one of my favourites, but not the worst thing in the world either. Literally just tasted like dried coconut meat. I wasn't a fan of how bland it was, but my mom absolutely loved this one.
Prana Coconut Chips - Jive (Spicy Chili)
Probably my least favourite flavour. I didn't enjoy the sweet chili taste at all. It could be just my preference, but I felt it didn't have enough kick to it. The sweet was definitely there, but it could of been better.
Prana Coconut Chips - Hula (Sea Salt and Pepper)
The flavour of this one was absolutely perfect. It wasn't too overpowering that it took over the coconut taste, it complimented it. Compared to the other flavours, this one worked best. I felt that the coconut chips were better with only a light seasoning, compared to a bold flavour.
The coconut chips were crisp, and had a texture similar to slivered almonds.
Prana Coconut Chips are a great alternative to potato chips, and are also vegan and GMO free. Prana is offering a great wholesome snack, that is quite different from other healthy snack alternatives that I've tried. I did enjoy some of the bags, and they made great salty snack alternatives when I was craving a bag of chips.
