Colourpop Take Me Home Eyeshadow Palette Review + Swatches

Hey friends. It's been a while since I've reviewed an eyeshadow palette, so I'm excited about this one. I purchased the Colourpop Take Me Home eyeshadow palette over the Christmas holidays, and being the person that I am, I couldn't try it until I was ready to take some photos haha. Unfortunately, it's no longer available on the Sephora Canada website, but it is on sale on the Colourpop website for $10. 

Let me start off with by saying, for $10, these eyeshadows are outstanding. 

In this palette, you're getting 6 beautiful shades. They're not new shades to their line, but a few of the top warm toned shades.

It's a small palette, so it's perfect for on the go or for travelling. 

On my last post, I mentioned that I started using my iPhone camera to take blog photos because I found convenience in using a smaller device, and just uploading to Dropbox and editing my photos on my computer. I complained a bit about the quality, but these swatch photos are outstanding. I LOVE THIS PHOTO SO MUCH. It's a wee bit blurry due to the size of the photo, but it turned out really well. I have the iPhone 8 plus by the way, and I must say, it did a damn good job. 

The shades in this palette are to die for. The pigmentation is unreal! 

My favourite of the bunch would have to be Bitter Better and Popular Demand. I had quite a bit of fall out when using a few of the shades, as they came off very powdery when my brush touched the pan. The application of the product on my eyes was fine though.

Here is the look I created. I'm a bit rusty when it comes to applying eyeshadow, but hey, I never claimed to be good at make-up, just love collecting it! I believe I used "Issues" all over as the base, "Side Tracked" as the crease colour, a little bit of "Popular Demand" on the outer corner, and "Salt Water" in the middle for a nice pop of shimmer.

I also drenched myself in some highlighter, but quite a bit that I do look a bit oily LOL. Trust me, it's all highlighter! (Review coming soon!!)

At another angle. Wearing Huda Beauty lashes called "Samantha". Super thick, super lush, super heavy! I'm not used to wearing such dramatic lashes, so this was way uncomfortable for me. The palette was a lot warmer than I imagined before seeing it in person, but it's absolutely gorgeous. I thought it would be similar in shades as the mini Huda Beauty eyeshadow palettes with the 9 shades, but it's way different.

Budget Buys: Best Eye Products Under $10

We are back with our budget buys series. Today I will be discussing my favourite eye products all under $10. These are products that I would repurchase in a heart beat because they are amazing and the product quality is rather high for the price. Let's begin! 

Essence Eyebrow Pencil in "blonde" ($2.50-$3)

When I started getting into make-up and I found out that filling in your eyebrows was a thing, this was my go to eyebrow product. It does a great job filling in your brows and the pencil itself is pretty pigmented for something under 5 bucks. I use this with my spoolie to brush out the colour and evenly distribute the product. 

Colourpop Eyeshadows ($5 each)

Anyone who knows make-up knows about Colourpop, and if there's one thing you need from their make-up line, it's their eyeshadows. Extremely creamy, dense and pigmented, these shadows are a winner. 

These eyeshadows are best when applied with your finger in my opinion, and they provide sparkle and glam without too much fall-out. 

The texture and consistency is amazing, like a bouncy, squishy clay. 

Here are swatches of the three I featured for this post, along with the Essence eyebrow pencil. I did a full review and swatch post on 6 of the eyeshadows I picked up from Colourpop, if you're interested in seeing my full thoughts on them.

Ardell Lashes in "120 Demi Black" ($4.97)

These were my all time favourite lashes to wear almost every single day when I began wearing falsies. They are extremely light and the band for Ardell lashes are usually fairly thin, so they don't irritate my eyes.

They are voluminous without being too crazy, and blend well with my short asian lashes. Lately I've been disliking wearing full lashes, so these work great being cut in half and then used as corner lashes.

L'oreal Miss Manga Mascara ($9.96)

I've mentioned this product in my Top 10 Mascaras You Need to Try post, and it is still one of my favourites that I use daily. Because I only wear corner lashes now, my other lashes definitely still need an oomph to blend in with my corner falsies. 

The brush for the Miss Manga mascara has little bristles that work great for picking up every lash and coating it nicely without clumping. This mascara is great for those who want length.

Revlon Precision Lash Adhesive ($7)

This is the BEST eyelash glue I've ever used. So far. I've only tried two eyelash glues in my life. The Duo one that's very popular, and this one. This one beats the Duo lash glue by a long shot, and it's fairly cheaper too. With this lash glue you don't have to wait as long for the glue to get tacky, and it stays on literally all day. I can take a nap with my falsies and they are still in the same position when I wake up. The one thing I dislike about this product though is the stupid long brush. It is precise because it's thin and long, but it gets super messy, as you can see in my picture. The glue eventually comes out every time you pull and push the brush back in the tube. Otherwise, it's an awesome eyelash glue. 

Essence Lash and Brow Gel Mascara ($4)

Definitely not the best brow gel I've used, but the best for under $10. The gel (is suppose to be clear but I've used it so much it's become a gross colour haha) is very thin, but not too liquidy that it would smear your eyebrows. A little goes a long way with this product and it does a pretty decent job keeping your eyebrows in place. 

You may have noticed I didn't include an eyeliner under $10 .. well because I couldn't find a good one that I loved under that price! Any recommendations?

ColourPop Super Shock Eyeshadow Review + Swatches

Do you ever just look at a make-up product and think to yourself "where have you been all my life?" Because that's how I feel about the ColourPop eyeshadows. Out of all the eyeshadows I've ever owned in my life of loving make-up, I have not used an eyeshadow this amazing, luxurious feeling, and pigmented. Don't even get me started on the price too. These eyeshadows are only $5 EACH. For the quality you're getting, the price is BEYOND worth it. When you see the swatches, you will instantly fall in love too. 

ColourPop Super Shock Eyeshadows

I am in love with this shot I did! I had no idea how to display all the eyeshadows and make them look nice, so I decided to go against the wall for them. I totally forgot that having a glass top would create an amazing mirror effect. The picture turned out lovely! Below was the picture I was planning to use as the main photo for the blog post, but wow, look at the difference in how it's presented! 

I don't know why I kept this picture in this post, but here it is anyways.

I ordered these eyeshadows about 2-3 weeks ago, and it only took about a week and a half to arrive. On the back of the thank you card was a hand written note that said "you're our valentine, sorry". Very nice of them to personalize the package and have a handwritten note for every single person who purchased! 

Each eyeshadow comes inside a little box of its own. 

ColourPop Eyeshadow in "I Heart This"

Unfortunately for me, one of my eyeshadows came cracked! BUT, no worry, I was able to pat it all back down together! With the super elastic texture, and sponginess, the product can be easily saved. It's like pressing down on a soft marshmallow, literally. These shadows are freaking amazing. As noted on the tips and tricks card they provided, these eyeshadows work best when you use your finger to apply it onto your eyelid. 

"I heart this" is a gorgeous cool toned slivery taupe colour. I honestly can't choose a favourite, because I love them all. 

ColourPop Eyeshadow in "Tassel"

I told myself that I needed a nice white colour for my inner eye corner, and I definitely got one.

"Tassel" is the perfect metallic white for the inner eye corner. It's basically good to highlight anywhere you want. The colour pay off is amazing, and surprisingly the fall out is fairly minimal compared to more powdery eyeshadows.

ColourPop Eyeshadow in "Doe-A-Deer"

This is my new favourite outer corner colour.

It may look like a super black colour here, but it's the most beautiful plum purple! AHHHH, I love it so much. Its the most gorgeous matte purple ever!!

ColourPop Eyeshadow in "Fringe"

Do you ever wonder who gets the job naming beauty products? Where did they get the name from, and how does it correlate with the colour??

"Fringe" is described as a gold/silver champagne colour. I imagine myself using this as a middle of the lid colour to brighten up your eyes. 

ColourPop Eyeshadow in "Cricket"

Now this is your perfect smokey eye, sultry eyeshadow colour.

It's almost similar to doe-a-deer, except it leans towards a brown plum shade, with a nice amount of shimmery glitter. 

ColourPop Eyeshadow in "Truth"

I love nudes, so I knew I would love this colour. "Truth" is a very matte, very peachy beige nude colour that works amazing as a transition or all over lid colour.

It was almost too beautiful to ruin the design.

Just look at how pigmented and opaque the colours are! This was just me swirling my finger inside of the eyeshadow pot, and swatching it on my arm with NO PRIMER. I've already written down a list of other eyeshadows I plan to pick up, because they are that good. I can see where the hype comes from for this product because it definitely lives up to it. I don't think I can pick a favourite out of the 6 I've chosen, so I'm going to let you guys choose for me!
