October 2014 Ipsy Bag Review

I'm going to say it. I hated this months Ipsy bag. I wanted to like it, but I didn't. Theres not much I like about it at all. I'm not going to lie to you guys. I saw most of the sneak peeks of the bag for this month, and the products just weren't appealing at all. I feel like this month in general, the product choices were not good. Anyway, just to show you what I got and my thoughts, lets begin this review.

This months theme was "Beauty Candy", and I really don't know why that is the theme. I guess in a way the bag looks like candy, but otherwise the only thing that remotely reminds me of candy would probably be the hand lotion I got. This months bag is pretty cute though I must say.

ERCU New York Acacia Protein BB Cream - Full Size ($12)
At this point I don't know how effective the Ipsy beauty quiz is. I specifically made it so I said I don't like hair products or hair tools, yet I keep getting hair products! It's not that I hate getting hair products (well kind of), it's because I know I will never get around to using them. URGHHHH. Anyways, this product is basically a BB cream for your hair. It's suppose to be applied after you shower, to provide body and shine.

Figs & Rouge Mango and mandarin Hand Cream - Full Size ($7.15)
This is probably the only product I like in the whole bag. This hand cream is a nice mix of mango and mandarin. Who would of known the two scents would work well with each other? Anyways, this hand cream is a very light, non greasy cream that spreads on like a liquid. In a few seconds its completely dry and the scent is not at all overpowering. I can definitely see myself using this daily.

Epice Purifying Exfoliant - Deluxe/Travel Size ($4.99)
I wasn't excited to see another skin care item in my Ipsy bag because they're just products I'm less likely to use. I began reading the reviews on it on Ipsy and everyone seems to love it. I exfoliate my skin maybe 1-2 times a month, only when I remember. I guess I'll give this a shot and get back to you guys on this.

Starlooks Lip Gloss in shade "Guilty Pleasure" - Deluxe Sample ($4?)
I've grown to love lipglosses, but this one just doesn't work for me. On the website it says a non-sticky formula, and this one feels extremely sticky. I feel like it wouldn't be comfortable on my lips, or my lips would stick together. What a shame since I do enjoy the Starlooks brand.

Jesses Girl Mineralized Baked Eyeshadow in "Graphite Frost" - Full Size ($4)
I am not a huge fan of grey eyeshadows, so.... don't know if I will use this at all.

Swatches:
On the left we have the baked eyeshadow. Very shimmery, not that pigmented. On the right we have the Starlooks lip gloss. Its a nice colour, but the lip gloss was very goopy.

Verdict:
Full Size Products: 3
Deluxe Size Products: 2
Samples: 0
Price for Bag: $10+tax/shipping=$17
Value of this months bag: $32.14
Mel's Rating: 1.5/5
The worst.

I would have to say, this is probably one of the worst Ipsy bags I've ever gotten. So disappointing. I'm honestly not a very picky person, but this bag just didn't "wow" me at all. All of the products in the bag seemed pretty generic, or mediocre. None of them stood out to me at all. Ipsy is currently my only beauty subscription I'm subscribed to, and I've stayed because I loved them the most. I made a vow to myself with subscription boxes/bags: if I get two disappointing months in a row, then I unsubscribe. That is why I have unsubscribed from Topbox twice already!

Anyways, maybe there was something that caught your eye about this months Ipsy bag. If you're interested in signing up for your own Ipsy bag, and hope we get awesome bags next month, just click here.

The one thing I do love about Ipsy bags is being able to try out products from brands I've never heard of. Do you enjoy trying out smaller brands? Whats your favourite?
