We are back at it again with another drugstore foundation review. This time, I had super high hopes for it because I'm a huge fan of Maybelline foundations. Todays review will be on the Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation. Quite the mouthful.
Claims: The foundation claims to be hydrating, yet keeps you looking matte and hydrated for 12 hours. It's ideal for normal to combination skin, with medium coverage.
I chose the shade natural beige, since most drug store foundations with anything "natural beige" is usually my shade. Even though the colour on the packaging seemed a bit dark, it was also kind of on the right track.
The product comes out thick and mousse like. It's very airy and light.
My hair is a hot mess after showering.
Here the colour looks to be a perfect match!
Not bad.
Here you can tell it looks a tad bit light. I guess I should of chosen a shade darker. Quite deceiving since the shade is completely lighter than the colour on the package. I would recommend going a shade darker than the one that you think is your shade LOL.
5 hours later with flash. My god.
Verdict: At first, the foundation went on like a dream. It felt super smooth and velvety and it dried pretty fast. It felt super light on your skin too! The one thing I disliked was that it got pretty caked up in the crevice where my face begins and my nose ends. It also clinged onto dry patches, which I often get around the colder months. It definitely did not last very long especially with my oily skin. I mean, you could blot your face to get rid of the excess oil, but it didn't look that great up close. Currently, I use this foundation mixed with my Covergirl Ready, Set, Gorgeous foundation, and it helps with the clinging of dry patches, and the longevity.
