Story time! When I was young and naive, I knew nothing about the world of hair care and different types of shampoos. My mom would always buy me and my brother L'oreal Kids shampoo, you know, the one with "no tears", even though it burned like a thousand suns? Anyways, as I grew older and learnt that I don't have to smell like watermelons and other interesting yet delicious scents they had, I grew to love the Herbal Essences brand. Maybe it was the colourful bottles, maybe it was the weird moaning commercials, but I was lured into trying Herbal Essences.
Over the years I've tried and tested many shampoos and conditioners, and finally found one that I've stuck with for a few years now.
My main hair problems are:
- lack of volume
- occasionally dry due to colour treatments
- gets too oily too quickly
I've decided to open my horizons again and search for a new product I may love, and then I came along the new Herbal Essences Naked Collection.
You've all probably seen these on drugstore and big box store shelves already, but I have not until recently. I don't care for my hair at all. I am a make-up lover but I don't bother doing anything special to my hair, rarely. I will glam up and make my face flawless, while my hair always lacks style and volume. I came upon the naked collection while wandering Shoppers Drug Mart at 1 in the morning, my fav night time activity haha.
The Herbal Essences Naked Volume collection has 0% heavy residues, parabens, and zero dyes. Sounds pretty awesome right? It also says on their website that their products will restore 100% of your hairs natural body, leaving your strands feeling revitalized and refreshed.

Herbal Essences Naked Volume Shampoo & Conditioner
I'm fairly picky when it comes to using different types of shampoos and conditioners. I used to be a sample hoarder (still am when I find time to hunt for free samples), and I have way too many shampoo and conditioner samples. I love having them for travel, but 90% of the time I hate the product when I use it. Its usually the conditioner that I am most picky about because if my hair isn't feeling silky smooth as I apply the product through my hair, its a no for me.
The Shampoo: First let me mention the scent for the shampoo and conditioner. Its the most amazing shampoo smell I have ever smelled. White grapefruit and mint? The combination itself makes my mouth salivate for some odd reason. The shampoo does a great job lathering (which I do enjoy with shampoos), and after washing it out my hair does not feel dry what so ever.
The conditioner: The real test if I would repurchase the product. This stuff works for me! The conditioner doesn't leave my hair feeling heavy or greasy once I wash it out, and I am able to run my fingers through my hair while applying the product with ease. I love the scent and I love this product!
Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo
I hate to admit this but I am lazy when it comes to washing my hair. What sucks though is that my hair gets extremely oily very fast. I was never a huge fan of dry shampoos because of their scent, or because they made my hair feel really heavy. Not this one. This dry shampoo leaves my hair feeling very light and absorbs all the oil. It literally makes it look like my hair isn't dirty at all! What I especially love is that it does not leave any white residue and the scent is awesome. Smells quite fresh which I love.
Looks pretty bad right? Don't mind my roots, I haven't dyed my hair in a while .. This is my hair after two days and being at work/school all day. My hair gets so oily and starts separating from each other. It looks awful.
Bam! Oil is absorbed and it doesn't look half bad now. Probably would be a much more effective picture if my roots weren't terrible, but you get the idea.
Herbal Essences 7 in 1 Serum
Not necessarily from the Naked collection, but I felt I might as well add it to this post since its from the same brand. I apply this product to my hair after I shower and it has such a muted scent in my opinion. My hair doesn't feel too heavy or oily after applying it, and I feel it does give me very nice shine.
Final Thoughts: I definitely would repurchase all these items from the collection again. Its always a hit or miss with hair products for me, and this one knocked it out of the park. Now when I'm out looking to purchase shampoo and conditioner, I now know that I have more options than sticking to what I already love. I highly recommend it.
